A New Chapter for Bayonne

For the first time in our city's history, a woman is taking the mayor's seat. Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski won outright — a clear three-way decision, no runoff — and with that, Bayonne turns a page. Whatever your politics, that's a moment.

So we did what we always do at BayonnePulse: we read the speech closely.

Her opening words didn't reach for the spectacular. No promises to make Bayonne bigger, newer, shinier — just a handful of plain, deliberate words: residents, accountability, transparency, quality of life. A first speech is where a new mayor shows you what they want you to hear first, and this one wasn't about dressing the city up. It was about making the people who live here feel seen. The message underneath it all: City Hall is turning back toward the people who actually live here.
